Count Duke Olivares Silk Scarf Count Duke Olivares Silk Scarf
Count Duke Olivares Silk Scarf
This limited edition silk twill scarf features Kehinde Wiley’s painting, ‘Equestrian Portrait of the Count-Duke Olavares," 2005, which is a reinterpretation of the portrait of the Count-Duke by Diego Velázquez. The painting shows Wiley’s interest in updating aristocratic portraiture for the contemporary audience by depicting a Black subject posed in a powerful equestrian stance as his horse prepares to gallop into battle. While the horse majestically stands on its hindlegs, the subject looks back to engage with the viewer, portraying an air of confidence and sophistication. The scarf is made from Italian silk twill with the image printed on both sides and is presented in a monogrammed rigid box, wrapped in branded tissue paper. 36 x 36 in (91 x 91 cm).Printed on both sides.Made in Italy. Two Heroic Sisters Silk Scarf Two Heroic Sisters Silk Scarf
Two Heroic Sisters Silk Scarf
This limited edition silk twill scarf features Kehinde Wiley’s painting ‘Two Heroic Sisters of the Grassland,' 2011.  Titled after the Chinese parable about two Mongolian sisters, who almost sacrifice their lives to protect their flock of sheep, the piece depicts two subjects, possibly brothers, who stand side by side with their arms in a salute. Based around a story which explores themes of dedication and perseverance, this piece demonstrates the power of unity over division and the importance of the black community to engage in harmony, especially in the face of adversity. This scarf also features a patterned background of navy blue chrysanthemums attached to graceful vines, and is presented in a monogrammed rigid box, wrapped in branded tissue paper. Green Floral Silk Scarf Green Floral Silk Scarf
Green Floral Silk Scarf
This limited edition silk scarf features Kehinde Wiley's Portrait of Mame Kéwé Aminata Lô 2021. This is a painting from the body of work that Kehinde developed during the period of COVID-19. Kehinde spent this last year in quarantine at Black Rock Sénégal, the artist compound and residency program he opened in 2019 on the coast of Dakar, Sénégal. In the absence of any ability to follow his traditional streetcasting methods, which enable him to find models at random on the streets of New York and many other international cities around the world, Kehinde decided to focus on the people and friends of people immediately surrounding him in Dakar. As Kehinde describes them, "What follows are a series of portraits that I might consider friends and family of Black Rock."Mame Kéwé Aminata Lô works at Black Rock Sénégal. She is posed here wearing a dress by Senegalese fashion designer Sarah Diouf and depicted amidst a sea of chrysanthemums that have been arranged in reference to a British Mo......

Portrait of Llewellyn Doris Silk Scarf Portrait of Llewellyn Doris Silk Scarf
Portrait of Llewellyn Doris Silk Scarf
Introducing our exclusive silk charmeuse scarf, a limited edition scarf featuring Kehinde Wiley's artwork, Portrait of Llewellyn Doris, 2019, aptly named after the esteemed model. This scarf is part of a unique series where Wiley skillfully crafted oval portraits adorned in armor. At the heart of this scarf lies the captivating portrait, seamlessly blending with whimsical floral details gracefully drifting across the silk and its borders. The backdrop of the portrait pays homage to the intricate patterns found on roller-printed cotton cloth produced in Russia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Interestingly, this patterned fabric served as the lining for a green, embossed-velvet munisak ("robe") crafted during the same historical era. 100% Silk Charmeuse 36 x 36 in (91 x 91 cm)Hand rolled hemPrinted on both sidesMade in China Net proceeds from your purchase support the artist in residence program Black Rock Sénégal, founded by Wiley in 2019....
