Mrs. Waldorf Umbrella Mrs. Waldorf Umbrella
Mrs. Waldorf Umbrella
Our limited edition Mrs. Waldorf umbrella features Kehinde Wiley’s 2012 painting Mrs. Waldorf Astor, reimagined from John Singer Sargent’s 1908 painting of the same title. In collaboration with Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director of Givenchy at the time, Wiley’s model is enrobed in a custom-made white dress. A nearly identical composition to its 20th century counterpart, the background is flattened with plant tendrils, entwining around the models body and into the foreground. Hardwood handle, 100% Polyester, and 48" arc canopy. Designed in NYC. Made in China. Net proceeds from your purchase support the artists-in-residence program Black Rock Sénégal, founded by Wiley in 2019.

World Stage: Jamaica Coloring Book World Stage: Jamaica Coloring Book
World Stage: Jamaica Coloring Book
This 32-page coloring book includes 15 ready to be colored-in works from Kehinde Wiley's 2013 exhibition The World Stage: Jamaica. First exhibited at Stephen Friedman Gallery in London, Wiley, using his notorious street casting method, places contemporary Jamaican natives in heroic poses that reference directly from 17th and 18th century British portraiture and feature background patterns inspired by British textiles. The body of works offers a corrective to the omission of the black figure from art history and specifically comments on the nature of the relationship between the United Kingdom and its former colonial holding. Wiley’s exhibition The World Stage: Jamaica is part of a broader project titled "The World Stage," which presents portraits of black and brown men and women the artist met in China, Brazil, Nigeria, Haiti, Israel, and India.  -8.5"x11" -15 illustrated works to color-in -Soft-touch, coated paper finish -Recommended mediums: non-bleed markers and wax or oil-based......

Green Leaf Umbrella Green Leaf Umbrella
Green Leaf Umbrella
Our limited edition Green Leaf umbrella uniquely features not one but two of Kehinde Wiley paintings. The mirrored fists are sampled from Three Wise Men Greeting Entry Into Lagos (2008), first exhibited at the Studio Museum in Harlem as a part of The World Stage: Africa, Lagos-Dakar series. The painting is in the Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts permanent collection, and references the Art Deco statue Welcome to Lagos, which stood in Nigeria along the Lagos-Ibadan toll gate between 1991 to 2004. The green botanical background references a William Cooke wallpaper pattern from the late 19th century, featured in Wiley’s Lunch with Inettia, Lucemy and Soukenya (2021), which was shown in the group show Luncheon on the Grass at Jeffrey Deitch Gallery in Los Angeles. The show featured multiple artists reimagination of Édouard Manet’s 1863 painting Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe. Hardwood handle, 100% Polyester, and 48" arc canopy. Designed in NYC. Made in China. The Conspicuous Fraud Series #1 (Eminence) Notebook
This all-over printed notebook features one of Kehinde Wiley’s early works from the series Conspicuous Fraud, a group of paintings which emphasize and explore the beauty of natural black hair. The Conspicuous Fraud Series #1 (Eminence) Notebook draws inspiration from Wiley’s artwork of the same name, made by the artist while he was in residence at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 2001. Twisting and turning through the sky, the contours of the subject’s oversized Afro hairdo transform into clouds, confusing the relationship of the subject and the background of the picture.Notebook7.4 x 9.8 x .75 inchesMade in Germany Net proceeds from your purchase support the artist in residence program Black Rock Sénégal, founded by Wiley in 2019.

World Stage Africa Patch
World Stage Africa Patch
This 3 x 3 in. square patch features Kehinde Wiley’s 2008 painting Matar Mbaye II, from The World Stage: Africa, Lagos-Dakar. Featuring the model of the same name, an intricate grapevine background protrudes around his torso and into the foreground as his gaze meets the viewers directly. Taking on a more regional approach, Wiley turned to many post-colonial sculptures throughout Lagos and Dakar for reference poses for his models. Dye-sublimation with purple merrowed borders and iron on backing. Net proceeds from your purchase support the artist in residence program Black Rock Sénégal, founded by Wiley in 2019.

World Stage Brazil II Patch
World Stage Brazil II Patch
This 3 x 3 in. square patch features Kehinde Wiley’s 2009 painting Alegoria a Lei do Ventre Livre, reimagined from A.D. Bressae’s Alegoria a Lei do Ventre Livre (Allegory of the Law of Free Birth). The gesso scultpure serves as an allegory for the 1871 law that awarded “freedom” to children who were born of slave parents. Under this legislation, unless slave owners were compensated, these children were required to stay with their slave parents until they reached 21 years of age. The irony of this law is bypassed in A.D. Bressae’s rendering of a young Black boy proudly holding a notice of law in one hand, and a broken chain in the other. Wiley’s rendition features a model that is less-than-enthusiastic for such a legislation that ultimately bought slave owners more time against abolitionists. The Death of Hyacinth Magnet
This rectangular lucite magnet features Kehinde Wiley’s 2022 painting titled The Death of Hyacinth (Ndey Buri Mboup), first exhibited in Kehinde Wiley: An Archaeology of Silence at Foundazione Giorgio Cini as a collateral event of the 59th international art exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Expanding on Kehinde Wiley's body of work DOWN from 2008, which was initially inspired by Hans Holbein the Younger's The Dead Christ in the Tomb as well as historical paintings and sculptures of fallen warriors and figures in the state of repose, Wiley created an unsettling series of prone Black bodies, re-conceptualizing classical pictorial forms to create a contemporary version of monumental portraiture, resounding with violence, pain, and death, as well as ecstasy. 3" x 4" lucite magnet. Saint John Baptist in the Wilderness Notebook
This hardcover notebook features Kehinde Wiley’s 2013 painting Saint John the Baptist in the Wilderness, reimagined from Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio’s 1605 painting of the same name. Both the pose of Wiley’s model, as well as the background pattern (William Morris) were both sourced from the artistic traditions of Jamaica's former colonizer. Jamaica's brutal history of colonization, slavery, and forced migrations positions it as a perfect subject matter for Wiley’s methodical, role-reversing portraiture oeuvre. Ivory-colored paper (70g/m2, acid free Plain pages). Hardcover with elastic closure and rounded corners. Dimensions: 6"w x 8.25"d x .5"h.
