Death of St. Joseph T
Shirt

$140.00

This all over print, unisex t-shirt features imagery directly pulled from Kehinde Wiley’s original painting, Death of St. Joseph.  Luxuriously crafted with comfort and durability in mind, this t-shirt is made from soft, ring-spun poly.  Cut and sewn in LA.

Adapted specifically for this limited-edition t-shirt, Wiley’s painting Death of St. Joseph (2017) derives its ideation from 18thCentury classical biblical portraiture and the enigmatic art history of St. Joseph, boldly reimagined for a contemporary audience.  The garment’s visionary portrait is vibrantly displayed on the back and its stylized and imaginative design of lush multi-colored flowers, greenery and a powerful yet playful rooster decorate the entire surface of the shirt.

Net proceeds from your purchase support the artist in residence program Black Rock Sénégal, founded by Wiley in 2019.

Sublimated ring-spun poly.

About Black Rock Senegal

Death of St. Joseph T-Shirt

Established in 2019, Black Rock Senegal is a multidisciplinary artist-in-residence program founded by Kehinde Wiley in Dakar, Senegal. The program brings together international artists to live and work at Wiley’s coastal compound for 1-3 month residencies. Designed by Senegalese architect Abib Djenne, the complex includes a residence and studio space for Wiley along with 3 single-occupancy residency apartments with adjacent studio spaces. Our mission is to support new artistic creation through collaborative exchange and to incite change in the global discourse about Africa. More information about Black Rock is available online at www.blackrocksenegal.org.
